Characters are the first thing that you will pick at the start of your run, every character has their own unique abilities, and in some cases, downsides.

Jack
Extraordinarily average in every aspect. This 'Jack' of all trades starts with some pocket change.

Yoji
A warrior from the East, Yoji is stronger with melee weapons and weaker with guns.
UNLOCK [ ] Get to the first boss and defeat him, but never use your gun. [ ] Starts with 100 HP
More effective with melee weapons, less effective with guns
Thorax
Widely known as Beetle Lord Thorax, his tough exoskeleton protects him from damage but also weighs him down.
UNLOCK [ ] Collect an insectoid powerup. [ ] Starts with 150 HP
Slow speed
Rex
A little lizard with a big appetite. Rex has decreased max health but drains health from enemies.
UNLOCK [ ] Acquire an egg (random drop). [ ] Starts with 50 HP
Has the ability to steal life from enemies by attacking them
Mishka
A cute, little bear with an anger problem. Her attack speed increases as her health decreases.
UNLOCK [ ] Acquire 3 Djinn's Zephyrhorns in one playthrough. [ ] Starts with 100 HP
Attack speed gradually increases as her health decreases
Android
An android with an affinity for static electricity. Her static field can damage nearby enemies.
UNLOCK [ ] Kill a total of 10 Giga Mechworms. [ ] Starts with 100 HP
Has a static field which becomes more powerful the more damage she takes
Top Hat
A dapper skeleton with a dapper outfit. When Top Hat falls in battle, he can resurrect a stronger but more fragile version of himself.
UNLOCK [ ] Die a total of 50 times. [ ] Starts with 50 HP
After dying, he can spawn a more powerful, but more fragile version of himself
Shelby
A rogue bloodworm with a taste for adventure. Shelby's tail damages enemies and grows when she levels up.
UNLOCK [ ] Kill a total of 20 Titan Bloodworms. [ ] Starts with 100 HP
Has a tail that can damage enemies and grow longer as she levels up
Entite
Entite is a highly volatile mass of energy. Entite has the ability to teleport instead of jumping, though she is very fragile.
UNLOCK [ ] Collect 2+ Volcanic Bombs in a single life. [ ] Starts with 50 HP
Has the ability to teleport to the mouse at will using the Jump button
Alium
Not much is known about this extra-terrestrial. Its space suit renders it immune to the effects of weather and allows it to jump higher.
UNLOCK [ ] Collect 3 Black Hole Boxes in one playthrough. [ ] Starts with 100 HP
Can jump much higher than other characters
Shark
Shark lives for the hunt. Whenever Shark kills an enemy, he temporarily gains additional strength.
UNLOCK [ ] Survive for 10 minutes in Arena. [ ] Starts with 100 HP
Gains temporary strength every time he kills an enemy
Bloop
Bloop is equipped with a self-defense mechanism. Whenever Bloop jumps, he splats nearby enemies with a disorienting ink blast.
